Tracy Swan started her HIV/AIDS work in 1990, and HCV work in 1998. She has developed policies and curricula for HIV counseling and testing programs for GLBT youth and active drug users, created an HCV education and services program, and worked in a variety of venues. Ms. Swan is Coinfection Project Director at the Treatment Action Group, where she has the opportunity to bring together her experience in a multitude of areas:
Tracy is also the co-author of TAG’s 2003 Research and Policy Recommendations for Hepatitis C Virus (HCV)/HIV Coinfection and a former member of the Community Constituency Group of the Adult AIDS Clinical Trials Group, where she served as the Community’s Representative to the Liver Disease Subcommittee and the Immunology Research Agenda Committee.
Direct service, advocacy, education, program development, policy and research to expedite development of new hepatitis C diagnostics, prophylaxis and treatments through proper clinical research;
Advocacy for socially-responsible, evidence-based research of antiretroviral agents and treatment strategies for HIV-positive people coinfected with viral hepatitis;
Development and promotion of policies to increase access to care and treatment for hepatitis C, especially for high-prevalence populations.
